Larkbeare Grange

Larkbeare Grange is a charming 5* Bed & Breakfast run by Charlie & Julia Hutchings nestled away in a very peaceful setting close to Exeter.

It is a brilliant base from which to access the city or to explore the surrounding countryside and picturesque fishing villages of Beer and Branscombe. The Jurassic Coast, Escot Park and a wealth of quality family friendly country pubs are all within easy reach and in November, Larkbeare was voted 'Bed & Breakfast of the Year' at the 2011 VisitDevon Tourism Awards.

Each of the four bedrooms has its own personality and all are en-suite, tastefully furnished and finished with thoughtful little extras. The beautiful Georgian house is surrounded by rolling countryside so nature is never far away.

Charlie and Julia strive to do everything as well as they can and to exceed guest’s expectations of what a B&B can be. A recent TripAdvisor review begins 'Spoilt rotten in Devon,' another concludes; 'as close to perfect as possible at a very reasonable price.' Many comment that having as arrived as guests, they leave feeling much more like friends.

Good food plays a big part in the experience and the Hutchings grow seasonal fruit around the house, make their own marmalade and jams and squeeze their own fruit juices. Guests now have the option of a Continental breakfast in the garden and Afternoon tea is served with Aga baked scones by the cosy fire. They are happy to drop guests down to dinner at a local pub and to pick them up afterwards.

Spurred on by good feedback, another comment encapsulates how Charlie & Julia set out to treat their guests: “This place aims to provide first class service at a fair price. One gets the feeling that the owners are less motivated by making money and more interested in making friends.”
