Cuckoo Down Farm Yurts

This a real family business – the Sheaves family have lived at Cuckoo Down Farm since 1959.

John and Becky have installed three beautiful handmade yurts and a charming gypsy caravan into a six-acre meadow for truly inspiring breaks away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in beautiful unspoilt Devon countryside.

Enjoy 30 acres of meadows and woodland, unchanged for the past hundred years. Your neighbours will be birds, butterflies and the odd deer. Light camp fires and watch the stunning sunsets followed by a dazzling night-time displays of stars. It is the perfect place for families with a sense of adventure.

The farm has five fields and a three-acre oak wood with a pretty stream running through it. Look out for swallows, foxes, rabbits, badgers, deer and owls. It’s a working farm with a flock of Suffolk sheep but you’re a mile from the nearest road and 300 yards from the farmhouse so you really can chill out in peace and quiet.

The 18ft diameter yurts are beautifully furnished with double beds, carpets, rugs, cushions, sofas and a woodburning stove. Each of them has its own loo and kitchen. The gypsy caravan has a king-sized double bed and space to sleep two small children. There’s a proper bathroom with hot showers just a short walk away.

The site is close to the lovely seaside towns and villages of Sidmouth, Beer and Branscombe and the stunning countryside of East Devon.
